It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lina Franzoni, surrounded by family, at St. Joseph’s Health Centre Long Term Care in Guelph at the age of 96.

Predeceased by her loving husband: Ermes Franzoni (2002). Loving mother to Ivana (Romano) Stangherlin, Susy (Marcel) Dubosq, Mauro (Carolyn) Franzoni.  Cherished grandmother of Laura (Brad), Maria, Jennifer, Michael (Krista), Stephanie, Lauren.  Proud great-grandmother of Tahlia, Evalyn, Ciara, Sienna, Emilee, Dylan, Caleb, Aria, Lilly, Rian, George, Carly, Kira.  Dear sister of Antonio Sonego, and the  (late) Dino Sonego, and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.  She will be missed by all friends and extended family.

Lina followed her beloved Ermes from Italy in 1956 with their daughter Ivana, and settled in Guelph.  She was a member of the Italian Canadian Club and Fogolar Famee Furlani park, where she enjoying many festivities alongside Ermes and family. She was an amazing cook, known for her unforgettable spinach lasagna, and her famous potato salad. Her vegetable garden was always the envy of the neighborhood.  She carried on the cherished family traditions of making wine, and bringing loved ones together in celebration at all major occasions.

In her younger years, Lina worked at John Rennie Shirt Company later retiring from Biltmore Hats after a 35 year tenure of excellence and craftsmanship. She leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and culinary excellence that will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Rest in peace, Lina.

Friends will be received Gilbert MacIntyre and Son, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St., Guelph on Tuesday, February 18 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Funeral service at 11:00 am in the chapel, reception to follow. Private family interment at Marymount Cemetery, in Guelph.
