In his 83rd year, peacefully passed away on January 3, 2024. He was born in Guelph to parents James and Elsie Ford and spent most of his life there.
He will be affectionately remembered by his children Bryon Ford and Leanne (Cougler) Ford and their spouses Christina Ford and Kevin Cougler, who feel blessed to have had Ted as their father and father-in-law respectively. He will also be remembered by his sister, Judith, who will fondly recall the times they spent together as children and the friendship they treasured as adults. His grandchildren, Tyler, Rachel, Matthew and Ben will remember the laughs they shared with their grandfather and how proud he was of each of them, as evidenced by the time he spent with them whenever they needed him, and the numerous pictures proudly displayed of all of them in his house.
Ted was a proud veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, serving from 1959 to 1963, as a United Nations peacekeeper, for which he was awarded the United Nations Emergency Force Medal. Ted was also a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 234 following his service, and proudly represented the Legion at several Remembrance Day ceremonies.
Ted enjoyed many passions in life but nothing made him smile like the feel of a fish on the end of his line. An avid fisherman, Ted spent many happy hours casting his line in any body of water he could find, but his favourite watering hole was Elliot Lake where he loved to fish with family and friends. One could not have a conversation with Ted without hearing about adventures in Elliot Lake! In his later years, Ted enjoyed spending time with his friends having coffee, and looked forward to the camaraderie and laughter they shared at their local ’Timmies’ hangout. Ted was quick with a smile, infectious with his laughter and would often sit at family gatherings beaming from the pride he felt for his family. His love was obvious. He will be missed by all.
