Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jack Fischer passed away peacefully on November 25, 2018. Survived by his wife of 66 years Theresa (Dal Zilio) and his seven children, Bill (Jan) of Guelph, John (Jane) of Barrie, Dave (Lisa) of Columbus, OH, Laura Zinger (Bill) of Guelph, Brian (Susan) of Toronto, Martha Zettle (Peter) of Ariss and Peter of Calgary, AB. Grandfather to Adam Fischer (Nicki) of Alymer, Beth Anne Ellipsis (Truth) of Guelph, Scott Fischer (Sarah) of Toronto, Michael Fischer (Emma) of Breslau, Jonathan Fischer (Britney) of Guelph, Elijah and Rebekah Fischer of Barrie, Sarah (David) and Mark Zinger (Karly) of Guelph, Jack and Ben Fischer of Toronto, Sonia and Jenna Zettle of Ariss. Great-grandfather to Tennyson and Ryan Fischer of Alymer and Rosemont Ellipsis of Guelph. Jack is also survived by his sisters Carolyn Goll (Alex) and Monica Longo (the late Edward) and sisters-in-laws Joan Fischer (the late Ted Fischer), Stella Hendry (the late Sam/Ron Daley), Della Cremasco (the late Tony) and brother-in-law Carlo Dal Zilio (Beverly). Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Honoria (née McLoughlin) Fischer, sister Mary (infant), sister-in-law Mary Daminato (the late Gino). Remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada and the United States.
Jack was a 40-year retiree from Armco (Armtec). He was also a life member of the Guelph Referees Association, an honourary Knight of Columbus and former men's fastball coach. Well respected by the sporting community and the Steelworkers Union, Jack worked to the betterment and improvement of those around him. The family extends our thanks to the special service and care provided by the 3rd floor staff of The Elliott Community.
Friends will be received at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin Street North, Guelph on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 2 4p.m. and 7-9p.m. The funeral mass will be held at the St. Boniface Church, Maryhill on Tuesday, December 4 at 10a.m. Cremation to follow. Interment at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Guelph Wish Fund for Children would be appreciated by the family.
