Of Guelph, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Village of Riverside Glen on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the age of 88.

Wife of 62 years to Wallace Finlay. Devoted mother to Susan Finlay (Glenn Legault), Julie Young (Doug) and Andrew Finlay (Theresa Sadler). Cherished grandmother of Elio (Cameron), Aidan, Katie (Steven), Emma (James), Matthew, Kenneth (Gabrielle) and Daphne (Katie) and great grandmother of James, Eamon and Maisie.

Katherine immigrated from Scotland to Montreal raising her children in Deux Montagnes, Quebec. The family spent 25 years in Kingston before moving to Guelph. Katherine’s passions included her faith communities, reading, researching History, sewing, cooking and gardening. She formed a youth singing group that ran for many years. Katherine volunteered in the community and was an active member of the Kingston Stenciling Guild and a Book Club in Guelph. She loved her studies at Queen’s University and maintained relationships through avid correspondence. Katherine was a confidant to many. She formed deep bonds with her grandchildren which brought her joy. 

The family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. Kotalik, the RN’s, PSW’s, staff members and administration at Riverside Glen for their compassionate, highly skilled and dedicated care.

Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Friday, November 8th from 10:00 -11:00 am followed by the funeral at 11:00 am. For those who are unable to attend but wish to watch the service remotely, a Zoom link is available on the funeral home website with her obituary.
