Regional and Oshawa City Councillor, Nancy L. Diamond died at Toronto Western Hospital on Sunday, February 12th, 2017.

A strong and dedicated community leader, she served as Oshawa’s Mayor for 12 years, and as a Regional Councillor three terms.  She is survived by her daughter Suzie Diamond, and two grandsons, Verdi and Seth, all of Guelph.  Her husband, Fred, died in 2011.  

A brother, Ross Darling (Marie) died before her.  She is survived by a brother-in-law, Cliff Rowe (Liz deceased) of Lovell, Maine;  a niece, Cheryl Hachey (Dennis) of Fredericton, New Brunswick; nephews, Michael (Nancy) Darling of Calgary, Alberta, Don (Patti) Darling of Saint John, New Brunswick, Doug (Marsha) Rowe of Portland, Maine, Brian (Karen) Rowe of Worthington, Massachusetts, Mark (Allison) Rowe of Hartsville, South Carolina, Chris Green of Vancouver, BC and Mike Green of Perth, Western Australia.  

Born in Sudbury in 1941, Nancy was a graduate of Queen’s University, and held senior positions in both the public and private sectors before moving to Oshawa, her home of choice.  Nancy is remembered not only for her efforts as a local and regional councillor, but for her extensive and deep commitment to serving the community through her long-time involvement in numerous organizations.  

Memorial visitation will take place in the Council Chamber at Oshawa City Hall, 50 Centre St. S., Oshawa on Saturday, February 18th, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.  A Memorial service will be held at St. George's Memorial Anglican Church, 51 Centre St. S., Oshawa on Monday, February 20th, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations to a “Nancy L.
