After a long battle with dementia we said goodbye to our beloved James Connor. Jim passed away with his family by his side August 29th, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph at the age of 75.
Jim was born in Guelph, Ontario on February 1st, 1947 to Matt and Margaret Connor. A lifelong resident of Guelph, Jim was proud to grow up in one of Guelph’s oldest neighbourhoods the ward, on Manitoba Street. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Gail Connor, his son Joseph (Anita) Connor, his daughter Tammy Connor (Jeff Clarke), his granddaughters Amanda and Ashley Connor, his brother Matt Connor (Manny Lagda), his sister-in-law Sandy (Alan) Duke, his best friend Tony Pellegrini, and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Matt (1969) and Margaret Connor (1991) and his sisters Margaret (Fred) Bryant (2014) and Wendy (Bill) Connor-Darmon (2019).
Jim was a dedicated and devoted family man. He had a passion for entertaining his loved ones with his quick wit, humor, and great cooking. At a very young age Jim began his life-time career at Barry Cullen’s Chevrolet and retired after 43 years of dedicated service in 2012. A true Chevy man, Jim had a pure love for cars especially his '69 Camaro. He enjoyed time out on the dock at Bala, Muskoka where he spent his time fishing, a hobby that was one of his true passions in life. Jim had a tenderness with animals often rescuing dogs and birds and bringing them home to be cared and loved for.
We will be eternally grateful to the staff and friends of St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph, particularly those on Oak Ridges and Cedarbrook neighbourhoods. Your care and support of our cherished Jimmy over these last few years was comforting to all of us. A special thank you to Dr. Stemerdink for always providing amazing care and checking in. Donations appreciated to St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph or to the Guelph Humane Society.
Family and friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
