It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our Dad and brother, Domenic Carere. He peacefully passed away with his family by his side on March 3, 2025 at the age of 58.

He was the loving father of Steven, Matthew, Allison and Amelia. He was the brother of Oreste Carere, Ron Carere (Joy), Giulio Carere, Nancy Campbell (Steve), Tony Carere (Trish), Rose Blacklock (Jim) and the late Angela Gazziro (Guido). Predeceased by his parents Annunziato and Maria Grazia Carere.

He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews who all recall how much he cared for them.

Domenic was a hard working man who always kept his children at the forefront of his commitments. His desire to provide security and safety for his family was immeasurable.

He had a great hand in carpentry with his do it yourself renos and he honoured traditions in cooking, gardening and keeping his family close.

His children were his world and always said “never change who you are.”

Domenic enjoyed listening to classic rock, and music was the start of his Saturday morning’s where he began his preparations of his “ world famous” meals. He also, when given the chance to relax, would sit on his back deck that he built.

Although not often, he felt free riding his motorcycle.

Ride free now, Dad!

Domenic fought hard through his illness with cancer. His strength and ability to battle through his pain to carry on was remarkable. Due to asbestos exposure, mesothelioma was aggressive, but it never took away his hope of getting back to a somewhat normal life.

The family would like to express many thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers at Hospice. You truly treated our Dad and brother as part of your family. The care and attention he had, gave us solace that his journey to the end of life was going to be peaceful.

Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, where the family will receive their friends on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 12 – 2 p.m. A Celebration of Domenic’s Life will be held in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Cremation. A reception will follow in the Hart Fellowship Lounge.

As expressions of Sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated by the family. Donation cards are available at the funeral home or online at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com
