Bill died peacefully at The Grand River Cancer Centre in Kitchener on the 11th of September 2024.

He leaves behind his wife Freda, daughters Sarah, Clare and Ann (Rob) and his adored grandchildren Soren, Alex and Maeve.

Bill was born in Aboyne, Scotland and graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in Medicine. After working in General Practice in Eastbourne, England he emigrated to Canada in 1975 with his family. He continued as a Physician in Ontario and for a time served as Chief of the Emergency Department at the Guelph General Hospital. He went on to work for several years in the pharmaceutical industry and then enjoyed working in walk-in clinics until finally retiring at the “young” age of 80!

Fishing, gardening and golf were his favourite hobbies and he especially enjoyed playing many exciting rounds with his two grandsons. He was a self-taught computer expert who loved to solve any kind of technical challenge. He also played Bridge to keep his wife happy!

In accordance with Bill’s wishes there will not be a funeral. The family will be having a Celebration of Life in Scotland where his ashes will be scattered in the River Dee near Aboyne where he was born.

Donations to the Guelph General Hospital or The Grand River Regional Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated.
