Of Guelph, passed away at Hospice Wellington on Monday, July 22, 2024, in her 80th year.

Beloved wife of thirty years to John Solberg. Predeceased by her son Richard Burley and her three sisters. Ruth will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Ruth’s passion in life was music. She was a member of the church choir for many years singing along side her husband John on the organ. Ruth and John owned two music stores in Guelph over 25 years, “Keyboards Plus” and “Music Music”, where they could share their musical love with others. In her spare time, Ruth would listen to Neil Diamond and Buddy Holly, her two favourite musicians.

Ruth also enjoyed nature. She would spend countless hours tending to her gardens at home, creating such beautiful and welcoming environments to share with her family. She would even use raspberries from the yard to bake delicious pies. Another pastime Ruth loved was to go fishing whenever possible. She had a love for all animals, especially dogs. She cared deeply for her Sheltie, Holly and her Poodles, Whiskey and Brandy.

A special thank you to the staff at Hospice Wellington for their kindness and care during her stay.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).

Memorial contributions to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated.

Gone Fishin’

I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole
For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole.

Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don’t worry, or feel sad for me,
I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea.

We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won’t be long you will see,
Till we’re together you and me.

To all of those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I’m missin’
Just tell ‘em I’ve gone fishin’

A tree will be planted in memory of Ruth E. Breen in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
