Our much beloved Elaine Boys (nee Fairbairn) passed away with family by her side on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph. Elaine was born in Guelph to Thomas and Helen Fairbairn on March 30, 1948. She attended Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute and was the cherished wife of Melvin “Mel” Boys. Elaine was adored and will be deeply missed by her mother Helen Fairbairn, brother Ralph Fairbairn (Jeannette), sister Sheila MacIntyre (Dwane), and her four children, Kathryn Boys (Armando), Karen Weissman (Bruce), Matthew Boys (Jodie), and Krystal McNey (Kevin). In addition, Elaine was a devoted sister-in-law, cousin, aunt, and friend to many. As a grandma she was loved enormously by her grandchildren, Armando Boniche, Mikayla and Madison Weissman, Carissa and Summer McNey, and many grand-puppies and grand-kitties. Elaine enjoyed traveling and cruises, was a fan of fine music and musicals (particularly of Rita MacNeil), and loved a good comedy or mystery. She was a long-time employee of Stone Lodge Retirement Home and treasured the many friends she met and worked with there. Elaine is preceded in death by her father, Thomas, and her husband Mel.
