It is with much love and sadness that we share the passing of Earl Donald Baird on December 8th at the age of 82.
Survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Lazina, his three younger brothers and their wives, Allen (Diane), Donn (JoAnne), and Rod (Roseanne), nieces and nephews and two aunts, Helen England and Lynn Wicharyk. Earl’s marriage to Liz brought him a large wonderful family, some living in Canada, a brother-in-law and his wife, Brany (Fiza) nieces and nephews and many living in Trinadad, a step-daughter, Susan, as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren. Earl was predeceased by his parents, Donald (1977) and Anne (2006) Baird, an aunt and several uncles, his step-daughter, Charmaine (2009) and brother-in-laws, Bobby (2005) and Raffick (2019), and sister-in-law Shirley (2023).
He will also be missed by his best friend Henry Hanje (Lucy). Earl worked at W.C. Wood Company for his whole career as an Industrial Accountant and continued to keep in contact by a monthly lunch with fellow retirees. Earl enjoyed the race track, casino and time with a bowling league. Earl’s years at his cottage in Wasaga brought his family and friends together – the larger the gathering, the better. His love of cars, especially his yellow two door hardtop Charger, the first Charger sold in Guelph, got everyone’s attention. Liz and Earl made several trips to Trinidad, as well as Aruba, Puerto Rico and St. Martin.
Earl was a strong and resilient man who will be missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home Hart Chapel (1099 Gordon St. Guelph) on Thursday, December 14th at 11:00 am.
