Passed away at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Guelph on Tuesday, June 11, at the age of 83 years. John will be forever remembered by his partner Carol McIsaac. He leaves behind cherished daughter Linda Blandford, and son Tony Asma. Also missed by Sandra Binns (Darrin) and Lynn Campana (Rino). Loving Opa of Kyle and Samantha, proud Poppa to Alexandra (Matthew), John and Marilena, and great grandfather to Elara. John was predeceased by his parents Willem and Anna Asma, and his brother Henk (the late Rinske). Survived by his sister Gertie Melis (the late Salvador).
John immigrated to Canada from The Netherlands in 1962 to build a family and future, laying bricks and building foundations for over 50 years. John relished his time spent gardening at home and fishing the Nottawasaga.
A Private Celebration of Life will be held.
In memory of John, donations to the Guelph General Hospital Foundation or St. Joseph’s Health Centre Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated.
