Of Rockwood, Ontario passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday March 29, 2023 with his family by his side at the age of 68.
Predeceased by his parents George and Daisy (Wilton) Armstrong and his father-in-law, Orville Detta. Beloved brother to Brian (Joey). Husband of Bev (Detta) for 40 years and son in law of Phyllis Detta. Loving Father to Samantha (Antoinette) and Tyler.
Norm was a lover of many animals/pets (dogs, ferrets, bunnies, budgies, hamsters, mice) that his family had throughout the years, but his pigeons were top of his list! He was an avid pigeon racer for 35 years who dedicated his Saturdays in the summer to waiting for his birds to come home! He could be found in the backyard with his long jean shorts on, Crocs with socks and when excitement flew into eyesight, that baseball hat of his would fly backwards! Norm would tie up the phone on these days making and receiving phone calls to and from fellow pigeon racers to see where their birds were and who needed to allow whom time. Norm was a homebody who absolutely adored his racing pigeon hobby and cared for his birds alongside his son right up until the end.
Pigeons will be a forever reminder that you’re close by, at peace and looking down on us from above. Rest easy Dad…you’ll be missed.
