ST. CATHARINES – The Niagara Ice Dogs scored four unanswered goals in a 5:29 span of the second period to power a 5-3 win over the Guelph Storm Thursday night.

The final IceDogs' final goal came into an empty net.

Storm goaltender Colin Ellsworth, seeing his first OHL action since Oct. 26, made 15 saves in the first period to keep it scoreless after one.

Vilmer Alriksson's seventh goal of the season gave Guelph a 1-0 lead early in the second. But then the IceDogs exploded in the second, jumping out to a 4-1 lead. Parker Snelgrove made it 4-2 before the end of the second.

Jett Luchanko made it a 4-2 game 26 seconds into the third period, but that was all the scoring until Ryaan Roobroek's second goal of the game into an empty net iced it.

Niagara outshot Guelph 40-35.

The Storm hosts the Windsor Spitfires Friday night and the Kitchener Rangers Sunday afternoon.
