ERIE – The Guelph Storm was officially eliminated from playoff contention Sunday with a 6-4 loss to the Erie Otters.
It was the 10th loss in a row for the Storm.
The Storm had no answer for the Erie Otters' big line of Malcolm Spence, Pano Fimis and Sam Alfano, who combined for five goals and nine points in a game that was tied 1-1 after one period and 3-3 after two. The final Erie goal came into an empty net.
Jake Karabela had two goals for Guelph, Charlie Paquette and Carter Stevens had the other goals. Rylan Singh and Max Namestnikov each had two assists. Colin Ellsworth faced 32 shots in the Guelph net.
Guelph has four games this week to wrap up the season: Tuesday in Flint, Thursday at home against Erie, Saturday in Owen Sound and Sunday at home against Kitchener.
They are currently percentage points ahead of the Peterborough Petes for last place in the OHL.
The league's four non-playoff teams will be entered into a weighted lottery to see who gets the first overall pick in the OHL Priority Selection on April 11.
