While the Guelph United women will remain in the top League1 Ontario division in 2025, the men’s team is in danger of slipping down into the second division.
The women finished its season with a statement 7-1 win Monday over Alliance United.
Tori Hinchcliffe scored twice in the first half, and completed the hat trick in the 51st minute to lead the way. Marisa Oliveira and Olivia Brown’s goals late in the first half made it 4-0 heading into the break.
Sasha Marikano and call up Sierra Palermo also scored in the win.
The women went undefeated with three wins in their final four games to finish the season 7-8-3, collecting 24 points to clinch sixth place.
The men find themselves in the relegation danger zone after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of North Toronto Monday, marking the team’s third straight loss.
After surrendering a goal just before the half, Kyle Cordeiro netted the equalizer in the 50th minute. The excitement would be short lived, as the visitors to Centennial Bowl scored the eventual winner 13 minutes later.
The men sit 11th with a 4-11-1 record and six games to go.
Guelph will host last place Hamilton United at Eastview Field Thursday at 9 p.m.
