KITCHENER – The Guelph Storm power play struggled mightily Sunday in a 3-2 loss to the KItchener Rangers at The Aud.

Guelph went scoreless on all four power play attempts. They included a lengthy five-on-three power in the final minute of action that was actually a six-on-three scenario with Storm goaltender Colin Ellsworth pulled for the extra attacker.

The 15-year-old Ellsworth made his first OHL appearance, playing well in making 28 saves.

Two of Kitchener's goals appeared to hit something on the way to the back of the net. One of them came on a Kitchener play.

Guelph had a 1-0 lead after the first period on Vilmer Alriksson's first goal of the season.

Guelph's Hunter McKenzie and Kitchener's Cameron Reid exchanged second period goals.

Antonio Pugliese and Luke Ellinas, the latter coming at 5:07 of the third, scored in the third period.

Guelph was without Jake Karabela (injury), William Haley and Quinn Beauchesne (both illness). Dawson Morris got the call-up for his first OHL game on defence.

The Storm hosts the Peterborough Petes Friday.
