The Guelph Storm has hired Fergus native Denver Manderson as its new skill development coach.

“We are excited to add Denver as an important resource for our coaching staff and players,” said Burnett.  “His experience working with both young players and professionals will allow him to make important contributions to our development process,” said Storm coach and general manager George Burnett.

Born and raised in Fergus Ontario, Manderson played his minor hockey in Guelph. He was drafted by the Storm in 2005 and played 10 games with them, recording a goal and an assist, before moving on to play in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League.

He played seven years of professional hockey, most of it in the ECHL, before retiring from playing in 2017.

“I’m really excited to be joining the Storm this season,” Manderson said in the news release.

“There are a lot of talented players that will be great to work with. Guelph is an exceptional organization and it’s an incredible opportunity for me to be a part of it.”
