Guelph Storm draft picks hit town to get oriented (8 photos)

Newest members of the organization put through series of fitness tests

This year's Guelph Storm draft picks were at the Sleeman Centre on Saturday for fitness testing and orientation.

A total of 18 players were in attendance -13 from the OHL Priority Selection Draft and five taken in the new under-18 draft.

Twins Ty and Dylan Jackson, taken in the fifth and sixth rounds of the Priority Selection, were not at camp.

Three of the players taken in the under-18 draft have connections to the organization already. Third rounder Dimello Smith is the cousin of Givani Smith, fourth rounder Alex Hotchkiss is the brother of Matt Hotchkiss and fifth rounder Devon Driscoll is the son of Storm education supervisor Colleen Driscoll.

The players were weighed, measured and then put through a series of fitness tests.

New general manager George Burnett spoke with the parents and players and parents later went on a tour of Our Lady of Lourdes high school, where Storm players attend.
