Guelph Royals eliminated from playoffs

Two Toronto hurlers combine to no hit the locals in deciding game

TORONTO - The Guelph Royals' season came to an end Wednesday night with a 6-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Christie Pits.

Toronto takes the best-of-five series 3-2.

Toronto pitchers Zach Sloan and Marek Deska combined on a no-hitter, striking out 10 Guelph batters in the process.

Guelph scored its two runs on Toronto errors.

The Maple Leafs led 2-0 early Wednesday night before Guelph scored two in the top of the sixth inning. Toronto took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth, added one more in the seventh and two in the eighth.

Yomar Conception started and took the loss on the mound for the Royals, giving up four of the runs.

Toronto now moves on to face the Kitchener Panthers in the league semifinals.
