Four former Guelph Regals had their dreams come true Sunday, hearing their names called in the National Lacrosse League draft.
Trent DiCicco led the way as he was taken in the first round, ninth overall, to the San Diego Seals.
DiCicco just finished a four-year field lacrosse career at Ohio State University, and spent the summer in Senior A box with the Western Lacrosse Association’s Victoria Shamrocks.
Goaltender and Puslinch native Ethan Robertson heard his name at the start of the fourth round (44th overall) by the Colorado Mammoth.
Robertson spent the last three summers playing at the Junior A level with the Six Nations Arrows.
In the sixth round, Rockwood's Caleb Commandant went to Rochester 80th overall. Two picks later, Josh Fairey was taken by the Halifax Thunderbirds.
Commandant was with the Owen Sound North Stars (Major Series Lacrosse - Sr. A) this summer.
He is also a two-time NCAA Division III national champion with the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 2021 and 2022.
Fairey just wrapped up his senior year at Loyola University in Maryland.
He and DiCicco were teammates with Team Canada's silver medal squad at the 2022 under 21 World Field Lacrosse Championship in Ireland.
