The YMCA of Three Rivers is excited to announce a transformative change to the prestigious YWCA Women of Distinction Awards in 2024, exemplifying its commitment to inclusivity and honoring the remarkable individuals who positively impact the Guelph-Wellington community.
To celebrate equity, self-determination, inclusion, community, and leadership, the awards will no longer be bound by specific categories. Instead, beginning in 2024, all nominees will be part of a unified pool, allowing nominators to spotlight their unique strengths, achievements, and contributions.
This shift reflects YMCA of Three Rivers' dedication to recognizing the countless ways women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals enrich their communities. Alongside the up to five Women of Distinction awards, two special award categories have been introduced: the Young Trailblazer Award, honoring those aged 25 and under, and the Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating those aged 55 and above.
Nominations for the 2024 awards open on October 11, and run to December 31, 2023. Nominations are being accepted now and can be submitted completely online through the following link.
"We are thrilled to unveil a more inclusive and holistic approach to the Women of Distinction Awards in 2024,” says Lisa Hood, VP of Philanthropy at the YMCA of Three Rivers. “This evolution reflects our commitment to recognizing the diverse talents and remarkable impact that these individuals bring to Guelph-Wellington. We look forward to celebrating their outstanding contributions and inspiring future generations through our Young Trailblazer and Lifetime Achievement Awards."
The YMCA of Three Rivers is proud to present the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards for 2024. As a charitable event, proceeds from Women of Distinction are directed to programs such as Safe Sisters, Teenage Parents Program (TAPPs), 2SLBGTQ+, and Power of Being You. More information about these programs can be found here.
