The downtown location of Planet Bean is set to close its doors at the end of this week “for the foreseeable future,” according to a social media post by the business.
Sunday is its final day.
“This decision has not come easily and we hope you can all understand why we’ve made this choice,” the social media post reads.
“The truth of the matter is that the downtown core has gone through a lot of changes over the past five years in many ways, and we simply can no longer forge ahead.”
The post thanked patrons for support over the years. The comment section is filled with messages from patrons who say they will miss the cafe and are sad to see it go.
Over the summer, the downtown location closed for weekdays as its customer base had shrunk since the pandemic, but returned to Monday through Sunday hours in November.
The Grange and Hilltop locations will remain open. Grange will be opening on Sundays starting Jan. 5.
