Wrinkly Bear Brewing bursts onto Guelph's craft beer scene

Grand opening for Wrinkly Bear Brewing will happen Saturday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

It had some wrinkles to work through, but at long last, Wrinkly Bear Brewing is open at its new location in Guelph.

The taps started flowing Friday at its location at 355 Elmira Rd. N., Unit 121.

A grand opening celebration is set for Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

It'll include beer, pizza, games, live music and more.

It's in the same plaza as one of the Fixed Gear Brewing locations, as well as Dixon's Distilled Spirits.

"It's very exciting to be able to open up and serve people, not just deliver beer," said co-owner Larry Matlashewski.

"We're going to have a full bar, wine, liquor, as well as our beer. It's just a long time coming, but very excited to start serving the public."

The brewery was based in Grand Valley from summer 2021 until May, when the focus was put on moving over to the Guelph location, which has 3,000 square feet of production space.

Five different types of beer are available to the public, and the hope is to get more flavours down the line.

The retired firefighter is looking to keep the focus on making great beer, and having some fun, without making the establishment feel like work.

The brewery will operate four days a week.

It'll run 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays, and 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday to Sunday.
