Wellington County welcomes new chief librarian

WELLINGTON COUNTY – In April, Murray McCabe, announced his retirement from his role as Chief Librarian.

Ms. Rebecca Hine has been hired as the County’s new Chief Librarian. Ms. Hine brings 15 years of public library experience to her new role. Ms. Hine has worked for the County since 2010, and has been a branch Supervisor at the County’s busiest branch, Fergus, since 2012. Rebecca also holds a Masters degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Western Ontario. Before coming to the County, Ms. Hine worked as a Manager at the Kitchener Public Library.

“It’s my pleasure to announce that Ms. Rebecca Hine has accepted the position of County Chief Librarian,” said Scott Wilson, Chief Administrative Officer for the County.

“Rebecca brings a lot of experience to her new role. I’m confident she will continue the great work Murray McCabe has done for the award winning Wellington County Library over the past nine years.”

Ms. Hine will begin her new role on July 2.
