A section of Stevenson Street is set to be shut down for about a week to allow for infrastructure work below the surface.
The closure, announced in a post on the city’s website, is expected to begin on Nov. 25 and last about a week. No through traffic will be allowed on Stevenson Street North between Grove and Elizabeth streets.
“Only local access will be permitted,” states the post. “All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible throughout construction.”
The shutdown is meant to allow for the replacement of water and sewer lines below the road surface. This is being done in support of a two-storey, 10-unit condo development at 14 Stevenson St. N. approved by council in February.
The west sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians at 14 Stevenson during construction, with pedestrians urged to use crossings at Grange and Elizabeth streets to access the sidewalk on the other side.
