Wellington Guelph-Drug Strategy has issued a warning about substances circulating in the community that are stronger than usual.
They believe there have been 14 overdoses in the past two weeks and one suspected overdose death connected to the substance.
They believe some of the overdoses are connected to a coloured version of fentanyl circulating – yellow, red, pink and purple.
They urge people to:
- carry naloxone
- never use alone if possible
- start low and go slow
- use the supervised consumption and treatment services site at the Guelph Community Health Centre
If you are using alone, the National Overdose Response Service is a free and anonymous service you can use to have check in on you. They can be reached at 1-888-688-NORS (6677).
