The victim of last week's fatal accident on Laird Road has been identified.

Santhosh George, 46, died when the minivan he was driving collided with a dump truck on a curve in the road just east of Southgate Drive.

George is survived by his wife Dincy and four young sons.

Visitation was held at St. Joseph's Church on Sunday. Burial will be in his native India at a later date.

Police said shortly after the accident that they weren't releasing the victim's identity until extended family had a chance to be notified.

Guelph Police spokesperson Bryan Dean said the investigation into the crash is continuing and that no charges have been laid.

The collision happened shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23. The minivan's front end was badly damaged and the dump truck veered off the road following the crash and struck vehicles in a nearby parking lot, causing four vehicles and the dump truck to catch fire.

George's Linkedin profile says he was a property manager of commercial real estate.

He graduated from Mar Athanasius College of Engineering in India. A memorial page on that college's web site contained many notes of condolence

"Today, we are virtually staring at darkness with our dear Kapai gone forever. Many of us are still struggling to align with the reality and we can imagine what his beloved wife, parents, siblings and the little kids are going through," wrote Anil Kumar.

Remembering A fine human being. Santhosh. Your cheerful face is still in our memory," said Sunil Suryanil.
