Student musicians are at the forefront of a public high school concert collaboration.
Centennial CVI, Guelph CVI and John F. Ross are coming together for an annual concert March 21 at John F. Ross at 7 p.m. Admission is pay-what-you-can at the door. Money raised will go to support music education through the Upper Grand District School Board.
The school bands part of the concert are; CCVI Symphonic Winds, GCVI Sr Symphonic Band and Ross Symphonic Band.
A new piece was written for the schools by Canadian composer Matt Neufeld and it will premiere at the concert. It is called Coat of Arms and is written in three movements; The Axeman, The Spirit of Royalty and The Running Horse, to represent the three schools and celebrate Guelph's coat of arms. Neufeld will be at the event.
