Pylons were put up around a roughly two-metre wide, circular sunken spot in the middle of the Eastview Road and Summit Ridge Drive intersection.

An east end intersection remains closed after a sinkhole started to develop Wednesday, with repair work expected to begin Friday morning.

A two-metre wide, circular section of road in the middle of the Eastview Road and Summit Ridge Drive intersection sunk about a centimetre, causing other cracks in the pavement, before ‘road closed’ signs and pylons set up on Wednesday evening.

"We were notified of a potential water main break,” Wayne Galliher of the city’s water services department explained in a provided statement. “We've been working to identify the location and cause of the break, and will begin repairs tomorrow morning.

“We will advise local residents of any water service disruption in advance, and hope to have all work completed by the weekend."
