Summer solstice event celebrates National Indigenous Peoples Day

In-person celebrations for National Indigenous Peoples Day come to Riverside Park.

Guelph hosts national celebration of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples at Riverside Park.

The event returns in-person this year. 

On Tuesday, June 21 the event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Riverside Park north near the bandshell. It will be emceed by Adrian Harjo and will feature live music, dancing, drumming and stories.

Indigenous food and craft vendors will also be in attendance.

Throughout the month of June, National Indigenous History Month virtual experiences like culinary demonstrations will be posted online.

Since 1996 National Indigenous Peoples Day has been celebrated on June 21 during summer solstice.
