An infill development project in The Ward is prompting a week-long road shutdown in February.

Alice Street will be closed to through traffic between Huron and Arthur streets for about a week beginning Feb. 10, with a complete shutdown at the intersection with Duke Street.

“The city appreciates your patience, understanding and co-operation during this important construction project,” states a post on the city’s website.

“The south sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians at 25 Alice Street during construction. Please use the nearby crossings at Huron Street and Arthur Street to use the north sidewalk.”

The closure is meant to support an infill redevelopment project at 25 Alice St., right at the Duke Street intersection, where a single family home is being replaced by a semi-detached project.

Existing sewer and water lines will be replaced and the road surface re-paved.
