PUSLINCH - Council is set to deliberate the final 2022 budget next week that could see a 3.18 per cent increase in the township portion of next year's property taxes.
Blended with a proposed 2.04 per cent increase in the county tax rate, Puslinch residents are looking at an average increase of $109 property tax increase on a typical single family home valued at $604,700, says township treasurer Mary Hasan.
The overall blended tax increase is 1.91 per cent increase over last year.
Puslinch council is set to deliberate the final 2022 budget at its Thursday’s council meeting. County council is set to deliberate their 2022 budget and county tax increase on Monday.
“The big difference between the previous budget meetings with the one happening on Thursday is the tax increase on the typical residential home,” explained Hasan.
“I’m excited to see what the council has to say about it during the upcoming meeting.”
The total capital and operating budget is $4,634,412 with a $228,642 increase from 2021.
At its preliminary budget meeting, council discussed the modernization projects for the playgrounds at Boreham Park and Puslinch Community Centre (PCC) park, and directed staff to report back on funding opportunities for these projects.
As such, Hasan has noted in her report that township staff will be applying for $30,000 of the county accessibility funding for both playground projects in 2022 in order to commence construction in 2023.
The township was recently notified of its 2022 Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) – formula based component funding for the 2022 year. Puslinch received its allocation notice in December 2021 with an allocation of $331,262 for 2022. The funding can be used for roads, paved and unpaved, sidewalks located on an existing road, and bridges and culverts.
