While a traditional ribfest may not be possible for the second consecutive summer, Guelph rib lovers will still be able to get their fix at a drive-thru event.

Rotary Club of Guelph Trillium will be hosting a drive-thru ribfest Aug. 27 to Aug. 29 in the parking lot of Centennial high school. Times are Friday 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.,  Saturday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Customers will drive into Centennial parking lot and enter the line. They will be greeted by volunteers who will be distributing menus so that they can make a food choice while in line. Then they will continue through the line and will be greeted by the rib team host that will take their order and their electronic payment.

The order is transmitted to the rib rig and prepared for their pick up while they drive through.

"For over 22 years our Club has been bringing together ribs, rhythm and rotary — raising more than $1 million to support local Guelph charities," said Rotary's Jennifer Hildebrandt.

Taking part in the event are three familiar ribbers: Billy Bones from Port Colborne, Silver Bullet from Guelph and Boss Hogs from London.

All the activities will follow the necessary COVID protocols.

There are no tickets to purchase in advance an no admission fee, although donations are appreciated.

The three ribbers will be the only food on site.
