Last winter a man named Bruce Boyko began calling a ledge of the Guelph Concert Theatre in Downtown Guelph his home.
Near the intersection of Wyndham Street North and Woolwich Street, it was hard not to notice the grizzled man with the grey beard and shopping cart full of belongings.
Many people live rough, but not many do it in such a visible spot, with hundreds walking and driving by daily.
Reporter Richard Vivian wanted to know the story behind the man and the situation, a story fuelled by the fact it wasn't just a story about a man, but about the issue of homelessness.
“Now they can’t miss it. They see you sitting here, they have to say something,” Boyko told the reporter, hoping his presence draws attention and results in action to address issues that lead to homelessness.
