WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On August 1, 2021, at approximately 9:50 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded along with Centre Wellington Fire and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services to a serious two motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 21 near the Eighth Line of Centre Wellington Township.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a coupe was travelling westbound on Wellington Road 21 when it collided with an eastbound sport utility vehicle (SUV). A 25-year-old male passenger of the coupe was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other occupants from the same vehicle were transported to a trauma hospital with serious injuries. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The cause of the collision is currently being investigated by Wellington County OPP and OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI). Wellington Road 21 remains closed between the Eighth Line and Sixth Line for the investigation.
