New route through heart of the city highlights major changes coming to Guelph Transit

Four new routes will hopefully improve service to U of G

There will be numerous changes to Guelph Transit routes starting in September, including four brand new routes aimed in part at moving students to and from the University of Guelph more efficiently.

Leading the way in the changes, which take effect Sept. 3, is the new 99 Mainline route, which will run 10-minute service, Monday through Friday, along the Gordon Street/Norfolk Road/Woolwich Street corridor between Woodlawn Road and Clair Road.

That new route through the heart of the city is expected to relieve overloaded buses destined for the University of Guelph and take pressure off the radial routes to all meet at Guelph Central Station or the University Centre at the same time for transfers.

Service on the 99Mainline will be reduced on weekends and holidays.

There are numerous changes to routes, and frequencies of routes, throughout the city.

All the changes, including maps of the new routes, can be found here on the city web site.

The city is holding information sessions to explain, discuss and answer questions about the changes.

  • Monday, March 27, 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Salvation Army Guelph Citadel
  • Tuesday, March 28, 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Willow West Mall
  • Wednesday, March 29, 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. City Hall, Room 112

The 99Mainline is one of five new routes announced by the city. The others are:
