Man sent to hospital with minor injuries after being struck by vehicle (3 photos)

The incident is under investigation

A man was sent to hospital with minor injuries early this afternoon after police say he was crossing Massey Road near Imperial Road North.

The man was standing on the shoulder waiting to cross when he was struck by a car driving west on Massey Road, said a Guelph Police officer on the scene.

The tractor-trailer the man was apparently trying to reach when he was crossing the street was parked on the opposite shoulder of Massey Road at the time of the incident.

The officer said the man who was struck was the driver of the tractor-trailer.

The man was sent to hospital by ambulance for minor injuries after being clipped by the vehicle, said the officer.

The incident occurred on Massey Road between Imperial Road North and Elmira Road North.

The Guelph Fire Department, Guelph Police and EMS attended the scene.

Police directed traffic around the collision during the incident.

The incident is under investigation, said police, and charges may be pending.
