The Pumpkin Promenade is Nov. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Tytler Public School

The Pumpkin Promenade from 2023.

The annual Pumpkin Promenade is coming up to give a second life to pumpkins and extend Halloween an evening more.

The promenade is Nov. 1 at Tytler Public School at 131 Ontario St. from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It’s put on by the Two Rivers Neighbourhood Group as a fundraiser for the group. Money raised from food and drink purchases will go back into the Two Rivers’ programs. The event is free to attend but the group will be accepting donations for the Two Rivers’ food bank.

What makes this event possible is people bringing their pumpkins to be illuminated for the evening at Tytler. The goal this year is to have 1,000 pumpkins glowing in the night.

The pumpkins can be dropped off Nov. 1 ahead of the event at these locations:

  • Sacred Heart Catholic School at 125 Huron St.
  • John Galt Public School at 50 Laurine Ave.
  • The Hive at 349 Elizabeth St.
  • Tytler Public School at 131 Ontario St.

If you live in The Ward you can leave your pumpkin at the end of your driveway and volunteers will pick it up on Nov. 1.

What the event aims to do is bring families and people from The Ward and the rest of the city to come together for a festive celebration, enjoy each other’s company, and keep Halloween going.

To add to the event there will be an artisan market put on by The Hive, fire juggling from The Anxious Acrobat, face painting from Makin’ Faces and a professional carving demonstration from Zac’s Jacks. There will also be games, live music, scavenger hunt, a haunted hallway and a best carved pumpkin contest. Food and drinks available for purchase.

The money raised will help the Two Rivers programs like its summer camp, and the Hope House’s Backpack Program the group participates in. The group also runs classes throughout the year like line dancing, community kitchen gatherings, knitting clubs, crafting clubs, youth drop-ins, family drop-ins, holiday events and a free tax clinic.

Two Rivers is looking for volunteers for this event. To learn more here is the group's email [email protected] and website https://www.tworiversng.com/
