Local ballerinas get ready for the big stage (17 photos)

Will appear in Ballet Jorgen's The Nutcracker at the River Run Centre in December

Twenty young ballerinas from Guelph and the surrounding area will be on the River Run Centre stage just before Christmas as part of Ballet Jorgen's presentation of The Nutcracker: a Canadian Tradition.

The 20 were from a group of roughly 45 who auditioned on Saturday morning at Centennial CVI.

They then practiced that afternoon at the high school and then Sunday at The Royal City School of Ballet and Theatre Jazz.

The group, all between the ages of 8 and 17, will play small animals in the production, which will be performed on Dec. 20 and Dec. 21.

Tickets are available at www.riverrun.ca.
