NEWS RELEASE
TIM CAMPBELL-SMITH
**************************
Guelph photographer Tim Campbell-Smith is set to debut a new photography exhibition “Guelph, But” which features personal reflections on the lesser-known corners of the city, inviting viewers to experience Guelph beyond its popular landmarks. The show will be on display from Dec. 1 to Dec. 27 at 10C Shared Space.
In the show description, Campbell-Smith reflects on his lifelong connection with the city: "I’ve lived, played, and wandered through every part of Guelph. Yet when I see images of the city online, it’s always the same places: downtown, the Basilica, the university... I know Guelph has more to offer, and I want people to see that.”
The exhibition showcases snippets, scenes, and moments from around Guelph. From the frozen ponds of the west end to family resting places, from the drive in to the mall, Campbell-Smith’s work presents a side of Guelph not often seen in mainstream imagery. Every piece encourages viewers to revisit their own memories and experiences of the city while discovering new locations that hold significance for them.
The exhibition will also invite attendees to guess where each photo is from. While some photos or landmarks may be obvious, others will be trickier to figure out.
The public is invited to an opening reception on Friday, Dec. 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 10C Shared Space, located at 42 Carden St. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist, discuss his inspiration behind the works on display and guess where the photos are from.
The full show will run from Monday Dec. 2 to Friday Dec. 27. The public can view the show for free Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Prints will be available for sale. You’re invited to see Guelph through a photographer’s eyes, to see the city in a new light—one that goes beyond the familiar and iconic sights to uncover hidden gems and personal stories.
