NEWS RELEASE
JAMES GORDON
*************************
Yes, Guelph songwriter James Gordon is about to make his 40th album (solo or with his former band Tamarack). Also celebrating his 40th year in showbiz, he’s collected a ‘dream team’ of musical friends to record 12 original songs with a fresh sound in an ‘off-the-floor’ live feel.
Recording at Guelph’s historic Black Heritage Hall next week, the sessions will culminate in a live recorded concert where the audience will be invited to participate. Attendees will have their name listed in the credits on the finished CD, and they’ll receive a copy when it is released on Borealis Records in 2019.
Joining him will be multi-instrumentalist songwriter Ian Bell, former Tamarack bandmate and current Cowboy Junkie Jeff Bird, guitarist/singer-songwriter Katherine Wheatley, and Anne Lindsay from the Jim Cuddy Band. Each brings their own style and creativity to the project, which Gordon expects will create a result that will be a departure from his last album Sunny Jim which reached No. 2 on the Canadian roots charts.
Gordon’s son Evan will be the recording engineer/producer, and will add some of his own musical talents, too.
There are a limited number of tickets offered for this special event, since the band takes up half the hall! The show happens Friday, June 15 at Black Heritage Hall, Essex Street, Guelph.
