A sign of spring has hit Downtown Guelph.

The Market Square ice rink has been taped off and closed due to what the city says is “high temperatures and deteriorating ice conditions.”

It opened Dec. 13, and if this is the end, it operated depending on weather for about 87 days.

Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 14 degrees this week, though there is a chance of rain and flurries this weekend.

That is slightly more than the 82 days of operation during the 2023-24 season, and much shorter than the 98 days in 2022-23.
