Health alert issued in Guelph regarding bad drugs circulating

There have been nine reported drug poisoning cases reported regarding a light green or blue mix of fentanyl and an unidentified substance

The Wellington Guelph Drug Strategy has issued a health alert regarding some bad drugs circulating in the area.

"Stronger than usual substances are currently circulating in Guelph. There have been at least 9 reported cases of substance-related poisonings in the Guelph area. Please stay safe," said the social media post from WGDS.

"The suspected substance is described as light green or blue in colour and contains a mix of fentanyl (2.5%) and an unidentified substance (1%).Please exercise extreme caution when using unregulated drugs, as the current supply may be more potent than usual."

The WGDS notes that risk of drug poisoning can be reduced by:

• Carrying naloxone

• Using substances with others when possible or call the National Overdose Response Service: 1-888-688-NORS (6677).

• Using the Consumption and Treatment Services Site (CTS) supervised by health professionals at Guelph’s Community Health Centre

• Testing your substances through the Guelph CHC’s Scatr Machine at 176 Wyndham St. North
