Canadian alt-rockers Headstones will be headlining a free concert in August at Riverside Park.
The show happens Thursday, Aug. 24, and is a lead-in to the annual Ribfest weekend at the same location.
Also performing at the concert are The Beaches, Coleman Hell and Ginger Ale & The Monowhales.
The show is courtesy of the ONtour Concert series being put on by the provincial government to help celebrate Ontario's 150th anniversary.
"As luck would have it this leads right into our 20th anniversary," said Rance Willis of Rotary Club of Guelph-Trillium, on hand with Guelph MPP Liz Sandals Monday at Riverside Park to announce the acts.
The concert starts at 6 p.m. with the children's act. The park will open to the public at 5 p.m.
Willis said that a full-lineup of ribbers is expected a day earlier than usual. There will also be food trucks and a beer tent.
"We had planned another Thursday night concert this year as a thank you to the community for 20 great years of support and when this project came up it was a great opportunity,' Willis said.
"It's essentially another night of fundraising," Willis said. "It's another way that we can give back to the community."
Rotary gave $40,000 to 24 groups in Guelph last year, he said.
He said the production level will be a step up from last year, with the event being completely financed by the provincial government.
Willis said that Ribfest raised roughly $80,000 last year for various projects within the community.
"We've tried to partner with some sort of an existing event so that we sort of piggy-back off of each other," said Guelph MPP Liz Sandals.
In total there are 23 concerts being put on across the province.
"There's a whole lot of Ontario celebration going on, in all told around 1,000 events," said Sandals.
"People of Guelph love every opportunity to come together and ONtour is going to be a great part of our 150th summer."
