Starting next week, pianos will once again be set up downtown and Guelphites are once again encouraged to play them.
The Happy Making Pianos will return to the streets of Downtown Guelph on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and some of the locations were announced on Thursday.
The project was first developed in 2013 by former city councillor, downtown business owner and community-minded citizen Ian Findlay when he placed a piano outside his Spring Street business.
That business, Thomas Video, closed in 2016, but the Happy Making Piano project has expanded. Last year, a total of eight pianos were placed strategically around the downtown.
The locations for four of this year’s pianos were announced by Twitter on Thursday, including: Guelph Public Library on Norfolk Street, River Run Centre, the Guelph Transit Central Station and the downtown location of Planet Bean. More locations are expected to be announced soon.
Very pleased to announce the #HappyMaking Street Pianos will be rolling out on Tuesday September 3 in @DowntownGuelph. Confirmed locations include @GuelphLibrary, @riverruncentre, @guelphtransit Central Station & @planetbeancafe.
