With renovations wrapping up, Ethnic Supermarket is nearly ready to open in the Victoria Road location that used to be home to Len’s Mill Store.
Qing Qing Lin, who owns the small chain of stores, expects the Guelph location to open in mid-April, though an exact date isn’t yet known.
“I’m really excited to open,” he said. “I hope I can do my best to serve the local community.”
The store 45,000 sq. ft. store at 234 Victoria Rd. S. will offer a variety of multicultural items, including flavours from various Asian countries including India, Philippines and China, among others.
In addition to produce, meat, Halal meat, barbecue, sushi and general grocery departments, the store will offer prepared meals at its food court.
Guelph will be the third of Lin’s stores. There’s one of the same name in Milton, which opened in 2019, and one under the moniker of MultiFood Supermarket in Windsor, launched in 2015.
Lin is planning to open a second Windsor store later this year, under the Ethnic Supermarket banner.
Lin said it’s Guelph’s large ethnic community that inspired the chain to come here.

Len's Mill doesn’t currently have a Guelph location but plans to reopen at 100 Woodlawn Rd W. It operated out of the Victoria Road spot for about 20 years. It's not known when it will open at its new location.
