These are the top names for Ontario too, as the government released its top ten list of girls’ and boys’ names for 2023 today.
Here are the names of the top five names for girls’ and boys’ locally:
Girls' names:
- Olivia
- Nora
- Amelia
- Maya
- Sofia
Boys' names:
- Noah
- Owen
- James
- Theodore
- Oliver
Amelia is ranked third and Oliver ranked fifth, the same as the provincial rankings list.
"Welcoming a new baby and choosing a name is one of life’s most meaningful milestones, and our government is dedicated to helping new parents focus on these special moments rather than paperwork,” said Todd McCarthy, minister of public and business service delivery and procurement, in a news release.
