GUELPH YOUTH MUSIC CENTRE
************************
The Guelph Youth Music Centre (GYMC) is thrilled to announce and celebrate new programs and events for 2025, expanding its commitment to fostering creativity, inclusivity, and musical expression in the Guelph community. GYMC is not just about classical music!

We welcome GGRC+ to GYMC

Formerly known as Girls Rock Camp, GGRC+ nurtures the next generation of fearless, creative musicians who self-identify as female, trans, and gender nonconforming. Open to students in grades 4-8, GGRC+ provides a safe, inclusive, and expressive space to explore music, build confidence, and challenge gender norms. The 2025 camp is currently taking place during March Break at GYMC. In partnership with the Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition, GGRC+ is self-funded and driven by local music advocates Steph Yates, Alanna Gurr, Emmalia Bortolon-Vettor, Sara Bortolon-Vettor, and Emma Howarth-Withers. GGRC+ will empower the next generation of Guelph’s creative community while addressing gender disparities in the local music scene. For more information: [email protected]

Blackball: Real Synth, Real Sound

Blackball, led by Aimee Copping, offers hands-on, live electronic music performance using real synthesizers, drum pads, and vocoders—no screens, no headphones, just pure sound. Open to all skill levels, Blackball teaches synth technology, musicianship, collaboration, and teamwork while building self-confidence and creative expression. Whether you’re a beginner or a synth star, Blackball is for everybody! For more information: [email protected]

AND FOR THE ADULTS: Funkhaus!

On April 12th, when the sun goes down, GYMC will get a little wilder than it’s known for and will host the legendary Funkhaus—a licensed adults-only, high-energy band known for its unforgettable live music dance parties across south-central Ontario. Funkhaus’s dynamic repertoire features the best dance and club songs from the ‘70s, (alternative) ‘80s, ‘90s, and beyond. Get ready to dance the night away! [email protected] and for tickets:

These new initiatives highlight GYMC’s dedication to providing inclusive, dynamic, and educational musical experiences for the entire community. GYMC is not just about classical music, we are about all music. Whether you’re a young aspiring musician, an experienced artist, or simply looking for an exciting night out, GYMC has something for everyone.
