The Guelph Public Library added over 7,000 new cardholders in 2015, raising membership over 2,000 from a year ago, and had over one million visitors to its six branches.
The 2015 annual report says the library also added almost 82,000 new items across its platforms and now has 2.2 million items in circulation.
"We've come up with fresh ideas and innovative programs, adopted new technologies and attracted over 7,000 new members to Ontario's oldest free public library," says the annual report.
Other items of note in the annual report include:
- the library now has 59,703 active cardholders.
- there were 1,054,473 visitors in 2015.
- 38,600 people attended library programs, up 10 per cent from the previous year.
- on average, there were 410 daily uses of the library's internet.
- 2.2 million items were checked out.
- library expenses in 2015 were $8.9 million.
- top borrowed eBook was "The Girl on The Train."
- top free downloaded song was Walk The Moon's "Shut Up And Dance With Me"
- top downloaded magazine was "The Economist"
- top online course taken was "Beginner's Writer's Workshop."
